Additional Practice Details

The practice was established in 1904 by Captain Hearn of the Royal
Veterinary Corps. He volunteered as a vet at the outbreak of the Boer
War and spent the entire war in South Africa. At the outbreak of WW1 he
once again volunteered as a vet.

The Kingsteignton Practice was originally based at 19 Gestridge Road,
with small animals being seen ‘round the back’ and the book-keeping
being done in the dining room. In 1974 the present premises were bought
and moved into as it was considered to have plenty of room.

As the Practice continued to grow an operating theatre with prep
room, an office and reception were added in 1998 and thought to be
adequate. However, with continued expansion the practice was renovated
in 2007 with new operating theatres, x-ray room, prep room, kennels
& cattery. The existing front of house saw a larger reception and
waiting area and two extra consulting rooms, and the offices moved
upstairs.
